Copper Pipe

Copper Pipe water systems

Copper pipe is a strong material to use for water pipe supply and can be used for an electrical ground.  Copper is the most expensive piping material that is used, however it is also the most resilant material to have in a building for its protection, many contractors are using CPVC, however, copper will last 5X longer with out leaks that any other material used today.
Copper pipe used with Press couplings can be warrentied by the manufacture for upto 50 years!  That is a great investment.

Copper pipe for long term

This Copper pipe is great for indoors or outdoors in non-freeze states, in freeze states it is best to use PEX pipe which will allow for expansion from colder climates.
Copper Pipe is a popular choice for water lines. It is joined using a sweat, roll grooved, compression or crimped/pressed connection. Copper pipe is rigid due to the work hardening of the drawing process which cannot be bent and must use ''elbow fittings'' to go around corners or around obstacles, however a pipe bender can be used for small bends or off sets.

Why Copper, isn't PVC pipe cheaper?

Of course PVC pipe is cheaper, however, you get what you pay for, and when there is a leak with PVC it is a really bad leak because the entire pipe cracks in half and gallons of water exit the PVC pipe in less than 30 seconds and this could just be because PVC becomes brittle with UV light, copper pipe usaully starts with small pin holes which increase over months or even years.

Press Fittings and Push Joint Fittings

Press copper fittings are common in commercial applications and still have not fully moved yet into new home construction, however, they offer the longest warranty compared to any other form of joining copper pipe.  Push joints are now used often to make the repairs or converting cpvc to copper for repairs to restore water leaks or water pipe repairs.  Push joint copper fittings have proven to last longer and have become more reliable than glued CPVC for repairs, or emergency water pipe repairs.  Push joint fittings often do not have blow outs as do cpvc fittings which the glue has not cured completely as per the instructions on the can, or have water that drips on the glue from the inside which prevents the glue from curing.
